Fans Ask Darren Espanto To Stay In The PhilippinesAlthough he did not win as the grand champion in the recently held finals of "The Voice Kids," it seems that fans of the show have been lining up to see what's next for the "total performer," Darren Espanto.
Darren, who was raised in Canada, was able to capture the heart of Pinoy audience because of his incredible singing prowess and his performance during the Blind Auditions, the Battle Rounds, the Sing-offs, the Semi-Finals and the Finals.
He sang "Domino" by Jesse J., "Listen" by Beyonce, "One Moment In Time" by Whitney Houston, "Ngayon" by Basil Valdez, "Somebody To Love" by Justin Bieber, and "You Are My Song" by Martin Nievera. He was able to sing with the Concert King on that last one.
Darren said he is happy despite not winning the grand prize. It went instead to Lyca Gairanod, also from Team Sarah. He still feels very grateful because of the overwhelming support of the viewers for him. He placed first runner up to Lyca.
Darren admitted he thought he was going to win the contest. But he also said he was not surprised that Lyca won. He always felt like the competition was between Lyca and him.
Still, he said he is happy for Lyca and her family. Lyca will get P1 million in cash, P1 million worth of trust fund, a house and lot, and a one-year contract with MCA Universal.
Darren said he will stay in the Philippines if there are offers for him. But if there's none, then he will leave with his parents for Canada. Darren said he still has to fulfill a couple of shows here before finally deciding what to do in his future.
Whatever happens though, Darren still wants to pursue his singing career.
He is also open to acting because being an actor is also a dream of his. He wants to work with his Coach Sarah.
Although his popularity has steadily been increasing because of "The Voice Kids," Darren is nothing but grateful for the opportunities.
