LJ Reyes Shrugs Off Rumors Linking Her To Dennis TrilloLJ Reyes simply laughed off rumors linking her to co-Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo, who she starred with in the Cinemalaya 2014 entry "The Janitor."
Even before they starting taping for the film, there were already rumors linking her to Dennis. LJ said they don't even have a kissing scene in the movie because her role was pregnant.
She doesn't know why there were rumors linking them, but she chooses not to talk about them because she's embarrassed about what Dennis might say.
LJ said even though she already made three movies for Cinemalaya, she still feels nervous every time she has a new entry. "The Janitor" is a highly acclaimed film that is featured under the Directors' Showcase of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival. It had its gala night on August 4 (Monday).
LJ previously starred in "The Leaving" (2012) and "Intoy Shokoy Ng Kalye Marino" (2012).
The actress said she isn't nervous about the movie itself, but the fact that she's only going to see it for the first time. She also feels lucky because of the indie films being offered to her lately.
LJ said she usually reads the script that her manager, Perry Lansigan, gives her. She has the freedom to do the indie film or not. But when Perry tells her to do the movie, she usually does it. What's important for her is she's challenged by the role.
The role doesn't need to be award-worthy. What's important is that she finds the script good and challenging. When she read the script of "The Janitor," LJ already told director Mike Tuviera that she's going to do any role he gives her.
LJ also said she's happy that her friend and "Intoy Shokoy Ng Kalye Marino" co-star JM de Guzman is back in showbiz. She was aware of his problems with drugs because she kept in touch with his mother.
She was able to text him just recently. She has always been very supportive of him, she said. She also apologized to JM because she wasn't able to attend the wake of his grandfather.
JM apparently told her that he's okay and he's ready to get back to work.
Meanwhile, LJ talked about her Hong Kong trip with her son, Aki. They had their trip a few days after her son's fourth birthday. Aki is LJ's son with ex-partner Paulo Avelino.
She asked Aki who he wants to see in Disneyland. He told her he wants to see Woody from "Toy Story" and Simba from "The Lion King."
They were together with LJ's friends and Aki's childhood friends. They booked the trip a long time ago and luckily, most of LJ's friends end up joining them in their trip.
LJ said this is Aki's second trip to Disneyland, but he was only two years old that time and LJ lost her camera. Paulo also gave an allowance for Aki, but LJ said this is her birthday gift to her son.
If ever Paulo wants to bond with Aki, LJ said it's okay for her as long as he will tell her where he will be taking Aki.
LJ and Paulo have been separated for a long time, but LJ said she wants to make Aki feel that they are complete as a family during special occasions. If there's one thing that she likes about them is that they never traded words when they broke up.
"Kahit na anong mangyari, ako ang nanay niya, si Paulo ang tatay niya, at hindi magbabago yun."
LJ grew up in a broken home and she just recently met her father. She wants Aki to feel Paulo's presence as a father as much as possible.
For now, LJ is not entertaining any suitor. She wants to be careful about falling in love because she already has a son. Of course, LJ said she's not closing her doors.
She hasn't let Aki meet anyone yet. She wants to be sure first before letting that happen.
