Dingdong Dantes And Marian Rivera Engaged Since 2012When Dingdong Dantes proposed on Ausut 9 on national television, through the show "Marian," to girlfriend Marian Rivera, this was not the first time he did it. Based on the video footage shown, Dingdong already proposed back in August 2012 at the Butterfly Pavilion in MGM in Macau.
Dingdong celebrated his birthday there with his family. In the video aired during "Marian," it can be seen that the actor whispered something to his girlfriend, who burst into tears.
When that footage was aired during Dingdong's monologue on "Marian," the actress started crying already. Dingdong paused the video after his whisper to Marian and said he wanted to do the proposal right this time.
Because he was overwhelmed by his emotions back then, he wasn't able to say the things he wants to say to his girlfriend. This time, Dingdong believes it will be extra special for Marian because her whole family was there.
Dingdong's family was also present on the show. He said he wanted the whole world to know how much he loves Marian.
The actor said that whenever he prays, he pray for someone he can be with through the good and the bad times. He prays for someone he can offer his life to. Right now, Dingdong wants nothing else but to settle down and raise a family.
In the long years that they have been together, one thing remained clear to Dingdong--that is, he wants to spend the rest of his life with Marian. "Kaya ngayon, saksi ang mga nahal natin sa buhay, gusto kong ipagsigawan sa buong mundo, na ikaw ang sagot sa aking mga dasal."
He then took out a black box from his suit and opened it to reveal a diamond ring. On Marian's birthday, Dingdong said he offers her himself. He then asked her to be his wife.
Marian wasn't able to answer, but just kissed her boyfriend. Afterwards, Dingdong put the ring on Marian's finger.
Dingdong then turned to the audience and introduced Marian as his fiance. He added that it would be Marian's last dance before she finally becomes his wife. They danced to the song "Rule The World" by Take That.
After the commercial gap, Marian and Dingdong were seen with their families backstage. Her co-hosts Paolo Ballesteros, Julie Anne San Jose and Christian Bautista interviewed their respective families.
Marian's mother, Amelia Rivera, is happy for the couple while her grandmother, Francisca Rivera, wants to have grandchildren already. Dingdong's mother, Angeline Dantes, thanked Marian for loving and taking care of her son.
She also welcomed Marian to their family.
Marian said a lot of people asked her why she had a butterfly inked on her back. Now, everyone knows why that symbol is important to her.
She told Dingdong that they got through so many challenges in their relationship, but she never gave up because she knows what they have is true. Marian said she will forever love and take care of him.
"Kahit ilang anak, wala akong pakialam, kahit lumaki ang katawan ko, maibigay ko lang ang lahat ng ikasasaya mo."
Dingdong and Marian worked together in 2007 when they made the Pinoy version of the hit Mexican telenovela, "Marimar." They worked again on "Dyesebel" (2008), "Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang" (2009), "Endless Love" (2010) and "My Beloved" (2012).
They also did two movies--"One True Love" (2008) and "You To Me Are Everything" (2010).
