Dingdong Dantes Calls Unfair Political Issues Linked To His Proposal To Marian RiveraDingdong Dantes finally broke his silence on rumors saying he proposed on national television to girlfriend Marian Rivera because of his political ambitions.
The actor proposed for the second time last Saturday (August 9). They were engaged as early as August 2012, but Dingdong said he wanted to make the public a part of their love story.
He said it's unfair that these issues are cropping up when they could have kept it private, but wanted to share it to the network and the public who loved them so well. He added that they cannot deny the fact they are both part of the Kapuso network, and they first met on the set of "Marimar."
"Lahat ng tao who supported us from the start until now, especially ang aming friends from the press, you were with us in all of our milestones together."
Their wedding, set on December 30, 2014, will be another milestone that they wanted to share. After their wedding, their marriage will remain a private affair. But occasions such as this... Dingdong thinks it's only right to share it with the people who love them and who they love back.
He doesn't have any plans of running for a political office. He is focused on many things such as his impending marriage to even think about that.
Marian talked about the second proposal on her show, "Marian." Their plan was to announce their engagement, so she didn't think he would propose to her again. She even told Paolo Ballesteros, her co-host, to hold her ring for her and give it to her after their announcement.
She was then surprised that the format seemed to be different. She shared that she had mixed emotions when Dingdong knelt before her and asked her to marry him again.
She was happy, giddy and teary eyed during the whole thing. "Yun ang isa sa pinakamahalaga sa isang babae, e—ang yayain ka magpakasal ng isang lalaking pinakamamahal mo at gusto mong makasama habambuhay." Dingdong gave her that.
As for Dingdong, he shared that he wasn't able to sleep the night before. It was like proposing for the first time. He knows this second proposal is important because Marian's family and friends are all there. He was praying that he can say what he wanted to say, and there won't be a repeat of the first time.
Dingdong didn't want to comment on rumors that the engagement ring he gave Marian was worth P4 million.
Marian was asked if they would invite the people they had a misunderstanding with before. She said she can invite anyone because she doesn't want to focus on the negative aspects of her life. There's no space in her life for those issues.
She was then teary-eyed when asked if she will invite her former manager, Popoy Caritativo. Marian said she will always love Popoy, and she even saw him in Cinemalaya. She greeted his mother, but Popoy was not ready to see her just yet.
They don't have plans yet after the wedding because they are now focused on the details of their impending celebration. She only bought her shoes for the wedding, but she hasn't chosen a wedding gown yet.
Marian said their plans after the wedding will depend on whether or not they will be blessed with a child.
After their wedding, Marian is open to changes in her career. Her priorities will definitely change, she said. Dingdong, for his part, said their passion for their craft will never change but they have to evaluate their priorities after the wedding.
Besides, they trust their network and their talent managers with regards to their careers.
Meanwhile, both of them have entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival this December 2014. Dingdong is part of "Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2" while Marian stars with Vic Sotto in "My Bossings Adventures."
They said they are lucky to have their management behind them because they oversee the preparations for their wedding, and their schedules as well.
There was already a "mapping" and a "scheduling" that were created for them by Triple A and PPL.
