Claudine Barretto's Ex-Household Helper Is Determined To Pursue Case Against Her

Although Claudine Barretto has been cleared of the robbery, grave coercion and perjury cases slapped against her by two former household helpers, Maria Luisa Becher, one of the complainants, will file a Motion for Reconsideration and pursue the case against the actress.

Maria was the one who filed the robbery and grave coercion charges against the actress while another household helper, Dessa Patilan, filed the perjury case in relation to the theft complaint against them by Claudine.

The actress complained that Maria and Dessa were responsible for the lost of her expensive bags and jewelry. Maria and Dessa, on the other hand, alleged that the actress took away their money and their gadgets when she threw them out of the house.

Atty. Rico Quicho, the legal counsel of Maria, said that his client will definitely pursue the cases against Claudine while Atty. Alma Mallonga, Dessa's lawyer, is still waiting for the copy of the resolution by the Marikina City Prosecutor's Office.

The Court found "lack of probable cause" to pursue the case against Claudine.

On the other hand, a separate robbery case filed by Jennifer Murillo against the actress is still ongoing. This was being heard at the Marikina Regional Trial Court. A warrant of arrest was issued against the actress, but she immediately paid the bail money.

Atty. Quicho said their camp remains positive that they will be able to attain the justice for what Claudine did to his clients. However, he said that Jennifer's case will be handled by the public prosecutor.

Jennifer decided it would be best if the public prosecutor will be the one to handle the said robbery case. The Department of Justice (DOJ) will ensure that Jennifer's rights will be protected.

Jennifer hopes for "fairness and impartiality" in the handling of the case, the lawyer said.

Atty. Quicho said he is sure there will be malicious rumors as to why he withdrew as her legal counsel, but he will not dignify those with a response. He will remain as Jennifer's confidante, and he has her full trust and confidence.

Claudine filed a qualified theft complaint against Jennifer, but this was rejected by the Marikina City Prosecutor's Office in April 2014.

Meanwhile, Claudine's qualified theft complaint against Maria and Dessa is still pending before the Marikina City Prosecutor's Office.

Dessa was imprisoned for a year, but she was eventually released on bail with the help of Gretchen Barretto.
