Ricky Davao To Judge The First-Ever AIFFA

Ricky Davao is the only Filipino who was tapped to judge the first-ever Asean International Film Festival & Awards (AIFFA) that will be held on March 28 to 30 in Kuching, Sarawak in Malaysia.

There are five juries in AIFFA.

According to Davao, his co-juries will be coming from four other countries in the Asean--Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar and Indonesia.

He shared that there are 10 entries from the Philippines in the Asean film awards.

When asked how he was chosen as a jury, Davao said that AIFFA was given a list and from there, he was handpicked.

Dante Nico Garcia, the Philippine liaison officer for AIFFA, was the one who submitted his name as part of the list. He said that his resume was reviewed by the group.

His trip to Malaysia will be paid wholly by the management of AIFFA.

When talking about Forever, the show he is currently directing for GMA, Davao said told PEP.PH that he is still thinking if he will let Adora (Heart Evangelista) and Ramon (Geoff Eigenmann) be together in this lifetime.

He said that if the writers can find a way how to do it, then maybe he will consider it.

Davao said that he is still not sure how he wants Forever to end.

But when asked if he wants to direct again, Davao said he misses acting more.

He said though that he is still open to directing another show for GMA again.

When asked if TV-5 has made an offer for him, Davao remained mum. He said that it will all depend on the kind of projects being offered to him.

He also said that he is a very loyal person, and it will take a while before he transfers to another network.

Davao shared with PEP.PH his dream project, a story about people in Home For The Aged. The script, which he handed to his father, the late Charlie Davao, centered about four people.

He said that he had hoped the King of Comedy Dolphy, Paquito Diaz, Berting Labra and Eddie Garcia can play the roles.

Davao said that the project is more suited for an indie film than a mainstream movie. He said that he has no budget for the film, but that he is looking to explore the Cinemalaya.
