Edu Manzano Receives Death Threat From "Ricketts Cronies"Edu Manzano is fearing for his life after he received a death threat because of allegations that he was involved in the six-month suspension of Optical Media Board (OMB) Chairman Ronnie Ricketts.
Edu shared on his Twitter account that he received a death threat in the form of a text message. The note said that he was the one who influenced Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales to suspend Ronnie as OMB chairman.
This was in connection to Ronnie's alleged carelessness during a post-raid operation by OMB against Sky Marketing Corporation or Sky High. In an investigation, it was found out that Ronnie allowed the release of pirated DVDs, VCDs and video recorder seized from Sky High.
He and other OMB officials are now facing complaint under RA 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices.
The "death threat" Edu received read: "HOY MANZANO! ALAM NMEN NA IKAW NAG SBI KAY OMBUDSMAN N IPITIN AT SUSPEND SI CHAIRMAN RONNIE, MAY ARAW KA DIN GAGO! HUMANDA KA DIYAN PWERA TAKAS!"
Edu replied to the text message. He said that he has long been ready and waiting for the text senders. He also denied knowing anything about the suspension. The former matinee idol added that it was Ronnie's own doing that led to his suspension.
He said that he has no influence or connection to OMB since he resigned as chairman in 2009.
Based on his Twitter posts, it is clear that Edu believes the text message came from "Ricketts cronies." He should not be blamed for the suspension when in fact, Ronnie's appointment has been expired long before this issue.
Edu shared a photo of a letter from the legal affairs office of Malacanang, wherein it said that Ronnie's appointment as chairman ended in March 2013. He was only allowed to stay as chairman because Malacanang has yet to find a replacement for him.
Edu was OMB chairman from 2004 to 2009 while Ronnie started his duties from 2009 to present.
