Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo And Zimmer Raz Post Bail

Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo and Zimmer Raz posted bail on Tuesday afternoon for the mauling of TV host-actor Vhong Navarro.

The three were charged with serious illegal detention after Vhong was mauled and illegally detained inside the condo unit of Deniece in Taguig City last January. Deniece initially charged Vhong with two counts of rape, but these were dismissed because of lack of evidence.

The Taguig court earlier allowed the three temporary liberty in exchange of cooperating with the court to settle the case with Vhong.

Atty. Howard Calleja earlier said in an interview that he had to raise the money needed by the accused to post bail. The court asked a bail of P500,000 per person.

Atty. Calleja was thankful that the court finally allowed his clients to post bail. It will still be a long process, but the lawyer said they are willing to cooperate with Vhong's camp to settle the case.

He reminded Atty. Alma Mallonga, Vhong's lawyer, that all of the things they said on television have been submitted to court, so they must prove the truth to these.

He added that the case should not be tried in public, and the merits of the case should be tried in the court only. Since they are both lawyers, he asked Atty. Mallonga to respect the decision of the court.

"We are thankful with the decision and this brings us one step closer, brings me and my client one step closer into getting the truth, in behalf of the client, and also getting the justice in behalf of the client."

Atty. Calleja said that they don't have any intention of delaying the proceedings because they want it to be over as soon as possible.

Aside from Cedric, Zimmer and Deniece, other accused such as Ferdinand Guerrero and Jed Fernandez are on the run.
