Derek Ramsay And Mary Christine Jolly Reach AgreementDerek Ramsay and his estranged wife Mary Christine Jolly reached an agreement regarding the "support, visitation rights, annulment and citizenship" of their son. The agreement was concluded after a closed-door meeting.
Mary Christine's camp was supposed to file a reply-affidavit to Derek's counter-affidavit, but this did not push through since Prosecutor Erwin Dimayacyac said there was positive development between the two camps after they met without their lawyers.
Mary Christine charged Derek under RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act. She earlier said that she was verbally and physically abused by the actor during their short marriage.
The city prosecutor asked the media not to publicize the reply-affidavit anymore because it wasn't filed anyway.
Mary Christine said they will try to be amicable for their 11-year-old son. Derek said they took this step forward for their son.
Derek made a surprise appearance at the Makati City Prosecutor's Office even though his presence was not required. He made the decision upon learning that his son is going to be there to accompany his mother in submitting the reply-affidavit.
Reports said the kid was emotional when he saw his father inside the closed-door meeting. Derek was able to talk to his son without Mary there.
Derek said if it was up to him, he wouldn't let his son be there in the middle of the circus. He wanted to see him and talk to him. Some of the things that were said by the other camp hurt him, the actor said, but he added that Mary already agreed to retract everything she said in her affidavit.
"I don’t really care about anything that’s been said about me."
He knows the truth, but he doesn't want to speak about it anymore for the sake of his son. He also doesn't want to speak against Mary because she is still the mother of his son.
He has been an open book, Derek said. When he went to the court, he already set aside his career. "So, wala akong pakialam sa career ko. Anak ko ang inuna ko dito."
He's happy to see his son, and if he needs to maintain a good relationship with Mary, then he will do it for their son.
As for Mary, she said their son wanted to go to the judge and present a letter defending her. He became emotional because he didn't want to be interviewed, she added.
Prosecutor Dimayacyac admitted that a letter was given to him by the kid, but he doesn't want to reveal the content of the letter. What's important is that there is a compromise between Derek and Mary.
The first few minutes of the meeting weren't peaceful, the prosecutor said, but they were able to iron things out after facing each other for the first time in 10 years.
Earlier, Mary asked the immigration bureau to release the travel documents of Derek's ex-girlfriends Solenn Heussaff, Angelica Panganiban and Cristine Reyes to prove that he violated RA 9262.
Derek was with Solenn for four years while he lived in with Angelical for six years. He also had a short romance with Cristine last year.
