Alden Richards Shy About Being Given The Kapuso Primetime Prince TagAlden Richards is still hesitant to claim the title of being Kapuso network's primetime prince, next to primetime king Dingdong Dantes.
Maybe the title is being given to him because the network has been giving him great projects as of late. He was named the host of the new reality talent search "Bet Ng Bayan."
He doesn't want to lay claim on the title for fear of offending the public, who may not see him as next-in-line to Dingdong, who is getting married this December to Kapuso primetime queen Marian Rivera.
Alden said he is flattered every time the entertainment press would refer to him as a primetime prince. He has only been in the industry for three-and-a-half years, but he can already feel the importance being given to him by his network.
Alden's stature in the network was especially highlighted after Aljur Abrenica filed a complaint against GMA-7 and was not seen as of late in TV shows.
Alden said he and Aljur are okay when they made "Magpakailanman" in March and when they had their workshops for a project they're supposed to headline, "Cain at Abel." He just doesn't understand why Aljur shut down all forms of communication.
Some said Aljur was insecure with Alden, and that's why he has become frustrated of his career in GMA-7. Alden said based on Aljur's interviews, he wants something more to happen to his career. Maybe that is the reason why he wanted to end his contract with the network.
Alden denied that there may come a point in his life that he will also complain about his work. He said he is a very patient person, and that's one of his tools why he can succeed in this business.
Sometimes, after a show, Alden would get impatient for his next project. But then, he would only need to remind himself that there will be good projects afterwards. After "Carmela," he didn't know "Bet Ng Bayan" and "Ilustrado" will be offered to him.
"Doon ko napatunayan na kapag naghintay ka, nagdasal ka lang nang nagdasal at saka, wala kang babastusing ibang tao, wala kang sasagasaang ibang tao, ibibigay ni Lord sa ‘yo, at His time."
Alden will be hosting "Bet Ng Bayan" together with Asia's Songbid Regine Velasquez. He was surprised that Regine was very comfortable working with him already.
He really prepared for the show because he even asked for the script a few days before taping, so he can begin memorizing it already. He doesn't want to rely on his cue cards or the prompter.
He learned a lot from doing the show because he can now use his own words instead of relying on the script alone.
He did not dismiss the possibility that he and Regine may work together in a teleserye in the future. However, Alden said that Regine's roles are very limited because she is married and is a mother.
She will only do roles that Ogie Alcasid and Baby Nate will understand.
Alden said it's not such a bad thing for artists to choose a role because he only wants to do a project that makes sense to the viewers. However, he maintained that as of now, he is still not choosing his roles and instead, wants to believe GMA-7 has his best interests at heart.
In "Ilustrado," Alden will play the role of the national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. Although the series will only run for a month, Alden said there is still a lot of work left to do.
They are on their last seven shooting days, and he is very proud of the production theme for what they have done so far with the series.
Kylie Padilla will play the role of Leonor Rivera, Rizal's love interest. This is the first time that they will be working together, but they jived immediately.
It cannot be helped that they will talk about Aljur seeing as he's Kylie's ex-boyfriend. Alden told her she can talk to him if she wants to, but Kylie just said it's good for her to be busy, so she won't think about the breakup too much.
On the other hand, Alden admitted he misses doing a show with his former on-screen partner Louise Delos Reyes, who was said to be the reason why Aljur and Kylie broke up.
It has been a long time since Louise and Alden talked, but Alden is updated through her Instagram account. He looks forward to working with her again.
