Enrique Gil Is Honored To Work With John Lloyd Cruz And Richard GomezEnrique Gil said he is honored and flattered to work with John Lloyd Cruz and Richard Gomez for Star Cinema's "The Trial," which will open in theaters nationwide on October 15.
He was also pressured because he will be working with award-winning director Chito Rono. This movie is a chance for him to prove his worth and for people to see he is not a joke in this industry.
"Yun lang I was just happy na binigyan ako ng opportunity to prove it and to work with them kahit na mabilis lang yung role ko rito pero essential yung character ko for both families."
Aside from Enrique, Jessy Mendiola was also very vocal that she always wanted to work with Lloydie. Enrique, for his part, said he feels the same way because he knows he will learn a lot from the Kapamilya network's most prized actor.
He witnessed how Lloydie prepares for his role, so that's something he will remember for his coming projects.
Enrique also shared how it is to work with Richard. He said he is very cool and he loves to eat and hang out with everyone on the set.
When it's time to shoot the scene, Richard will be ready even though he was just laughing with the crew a few seconds ago. Enrique and Lloydie are different because they have to take some time off from talking with other people before they can internalize their roles.
How was it working with Direk Chito? Enrique said he did not have a hard time working with the director. He has his own style of directing a film--he gives his artists a hint of how he wants it done and he observes if they can deliver.
If they cannot, he will tell them directly how to act out a scene. If they do a great job, he will tell them so.
This is the second time he worked with Gretchen Barretto. He played his son in the ABS-CBN series, "Princess and I." But their characters are different here, Enrique said.
Unlike in "Princess and I," where Gretchen was focused on Enrique (Jao) and she's very controlling of him, Enrique is trying to demand for more love from her in "The Trial."
Since he and Gretchen are already close to each other, does she talk to him about her personal issues? Of course, she sometimes mentions it, Enrique said, but he is not in a position to talk about it.
The issues she is facing right now helped her in playing the role in "The Trial." It motivated her, he said.
Meanwhile, Enrique doesn't think it is the right time for him to be called ABS-CBN's "The Next Ultimate Leading Man." He wants to see first how "Forevermore" will fare in terms of viewers and rating.
"Forevermore" is the upcoming teleserye of ABS-CBN that stars Enrique and Liza Soberano.
He knows he has a lot of doubters, that's why he wants to prove himself to them. He wants to learn more, so he can be in the same level as Lloydie and Richard in the industry.
Enrique has spent seven years in the industry already, and he still sometimes feels he is a newcomer in the business.
