Angelica Panganiban Speaks Up About Concubinage Charges

Angelica Panganiban finally broke her silence on the concubinage charges filed against her by Mary Christine Jolly, the estranged wife of her ex-boyfriend Derek Ramsay.

Angelica and Derek have been together for six years, only breaking up in 2012. Derek has been married to Mary since 2002, although they separated months after their April wedding.

Angelica has been dragged into the issue after Derek refused to enter into a settlement with Mary in connection to her VAWC complaint against him. The actress is now in a two-year relationship with John Lloyd Cruz.

She lamented that it's unfair for her to be linked to the issue because it was a mistake by "others." As much as she wants to defend herself, Angelica said she would rather remain silent about the issue.

Reports said ABS-CBN has asked Angelica's camp to explain the issue. Derek, for his, part apologized to Angelica and his family, and promised to take care of this complaint.

Angelica is currently busy promoting her new movie "Beauty In A Bottle." She stars in this with Assunta de Rossi and Angeline Quinto.

In the film, she plays the role of Estelle, an actress who has problems with weight gain. Angelica joked that she has no problem portraying the role because it was very natural for her. Angelica has always been bashed for being a little overweight.

When she saw the script, she didn't think twice about accepting the role. The only problem she had was how to lose weight by the end of it. Luckily, she was able to find a way around that.

She decided to portray the role because it speaks very closely to what artists usually go through every single day. Some people are too quick to judge them without realizing what they have to go through in their own lives.

Angelica has always been comfortable portraying comedy roles, and she thanked her stint in "Banana Split" for that.

She has been doing drama roles since she joined the business in 1993. In drama, she has to use her emotions to act well. But in comedy, she needs to have her emotions in check and she needs to be witty as well.

Meanwhile, Angelica said she is already used to netizens criticizing her on social media because of her weight gain. The actress owns up to it, saying she's only being true to herself.

She wants to enjoy her life--eat out, enjoy and not even wear make-up. When she does wear make-up, Angelica joked that her beauty is only next to God.

She's merely giving a chance to others to be noticed as well because she wants to be humble, she added. Angelica further joked that she dresses down at times because some people may get envious of her.

Seriously, though, Angelica also gets affected by her bashers. She also recognizes that she has, indeed, gained weight over the years. But still, the actress doesn't see herself going under the knife.

Angelica enjoyed doing "Beauty In A Bottle" because there was no pressure for her to lose weight. They actually think it's funny how fat she looks on screen.

She admitted that ABS-CBN is already concerned about her weight gain, so she thinks of them when she feels like not working out or not going on a diet. The management told her to lose some weight already.

She did not receive a fat memo, but ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio did text her to call her attention.

Asked about her boyfriend Lloydie's favorite part of her body, Angelica thinks it’s her lips because he always kisses her.

She felt she's at her most beautiful when she and Lloydie shot the movie "24/7 In Love" in Vietnam. That's when they started to have feelings for each other.

"Kasi ano, feeling ko ano siya, para bang may dumating na blessing sa buhay ko noon."
