Mary Christine Jolly Withdraws Concubinage Charges Against Derek Ramsay And Angelica PanganibanSince there is already an agreement between Derek Ramsay and estranged wife Mary Christine Jolly, the latter formally withdrew the concubinage complaint she filed against the actor and his ex-girlfriend Angelica Panganiban.
Atty. Argee Guevarra, Mary's legal counsel, said the parties have already made peace with each other, and that part of the agreement is for Mary to withdraw all complaints she filed against Derek.
Aside from the concubinage complaint, Derek is also facing charges for apparently violating RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act (VAWC). That has already been withdrawn by Mary last October 29.
Atty. Argee said both parties are happy with the agreement, which was born from the legal battle that started on June 27 when Mary filed a VAWC complaint against Derek for allegedly not supporting their 11-year-old son Austin.
The agreement was concluded because it would be for the best interest of Austin, Atty. Argee said. As a lawyer, he added that a good compromise and a good settlement are always better than a good case.
"So, I just hope that both parties can just move on and learn from this experience."
He did not comment on the financial aspect of the agreement. There were reports in the past that Mary is asking for a P45-million lump sum from Derek.
Atty. Argee said he cannot discuss the details of the agreement because both parties want to move on already. He also revealed that an annulment case will be filed in the future.
Mary also reacted to a picture Derek posted on his Instagram of his son. She said she wants Derek to spend time with Austin. Atty. Argee said that father and son have a lot of catching up to do, especially because Austin and Mary are scheduled to return to Dubai next year.
This won't be a problem to Derek's visitation rights, however. Mary will leave for Dubai next year, but she'll be back to visit. Derek is also welcome to visit Austin in Dubai.
As for Derek's camp, Atty. Joji Alonso, his legal counsel, revealed that Derek continually desires to spend time with his son on a regular basis because both parties already have an agreement.
On the day that they finally settled their issues, Derek's camp was supposed to file adultery and grave coercion charges against Mary. In the end, though, Judge Cristina Sulit was able to convince them to reach an agreement.
She asked them to maintain a peaceful co-existence for the sake of their son. Derek was supposed to ask the court to confirm the agreement they signed two years ago.
Derek would have wanted his name cleared of the VAWC complaint, but he agreed for it to just be withdrawn, so that the case won't drag on anymore.
