JM De Guzman Open To Work With Ex Jessy MendiolaJM de Guzman said he is open to work with ex-girlfriend Jessy Mendiola because they are both professionals, anyway.
JM and Jessy broke up shortly before the actor entered the rehab because of drug addiction. He is now back and starring in the hit series "Hawak Kamay."
Asked if he is ready to fall in love again, JM said his heart is ready but he doesn't want to get distracted from his career.
Currently, JM will be working on his return to the big screen through the 2014 Cinema One Originals entry "That Thing Called Tadhana." It is directed by Antoinette Jadaone, and will star Angelica Panganiban as JM's leading lady.
He will play the role of Anthony, someone who is skeptical of love because he has been burned badly in the past. Although he has moved on from his breakup with an ex-girlfriend, Anthony is still not ready to fall in love.
He will then meet Mace (Angelica), who just broke up with her boyfriend. Fresh from a heartbreak, Mace will form an unlikely bond with Anthony and the two will fall in love.
Their characters will go to a road trip to Sagada and while on their journey, they will be able to bond and learn more about each other.
The movie will compete in the 10th edition of the Cinema One Originals film festival that will run from November 9 to 18 this year.
This was the first time JM worked with Angelica. At first, he feels awkward because he's intimidated by Angelica. She has been in the industry way longer than him.
It was easy to overcome that fear, though, because Angelica is very accommodating and easy to work with. She's very professional, and she's willing to bring out the best of her co-workers.
Is he hoping for his movie to perform well at the box office? JM said he's trying to kill his expectations, although he is hoping the best for it.
"That Thing Called Tadhana" is the comeback movie for JM after his stint at the rehab. This is his first time to do a movie for Cinema One Originals, as well as work with Angelica and Direk Tonette. This is also his first movie in two years.
His last movie was in the 2012 movie "Pridyider" with Andi Eigenmann. He also appeared in the movies "On The Job" and "Ang Turkey Man Ay Pabo Rin." He also had a brief role in the 2014 movie "She's Dating The Gangster."
It's been overwhelming to see the support from his fans, JM said, adding that he is very cautious not to commit the same mistake again.
He is very careful about his work now. Hopefully, he will be receiving more projects in the future.
JM is avoiding drugs by going to the gym, boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai and running at the University of the Philippines Diliman. There's a certain high from working out, he added.
