VIDEO: Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla To Remake "Pangako Sa 'Yo"

Teen royalties Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo will star in the ABS-CBN remake of the hit series "Pangako Sa 'Yo" that launched the careers of Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales in 2000.

Daniel will be Angelo Buenavista while Kathryn is Yna Macaspac. This was confirmed during the Kapamilya trade launch, where a three-minute trailer was shown. It was also revealed that Jodi Sta. Maria, fresh from the finale of "Be Careful With My Heart," will play Amor Powers. Angelica Panganiban will be Madam Claudia Buenavista.

Amor was previously played by Eula Valdez while Claudia was Jean Garcia. Angelica and Jodi are expected to have a feisty showdown with Angelica as Madam Claudia leading the way.

The remake will be directed by the original maker, Rory Quintos.

Kathniel was rumored to be the star in the remake when they were tapped to reenact a scene of "Pangako Sa 'Yo" during ABS-CBN's summer station ID for 2013. The trailer for the show said the viewers can expect a more "mature" Daniel and Kathryn.

The show revolves around the story of haciendero Angelo and provincial girl Yna. The two will fall in love despite the challenges, mainly from Angelo's mother, Claudia.

They are in for a shock, however, when they found out they could be half-siblings because Amor, Yna's mother, had an affair with Angelo's father.

The phenomenal series launched the careers of both Kristine and Jericho 15 years ago. It run for two years, and has been shown in a number of countries and territories such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, China, Kenya, Ghana, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, and Uganda, among others.

In 2013, the Cambodian Television Network localized the series.
