Vice Ganda Calls His Lolo "Santa Claus"Even though his Metro Manila Film Fest entry "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin 2" is the highest grossing among the films this year, Vice is not feeling the success just yet because he lost his grandfather on Christmas Day.
In his eulogy, Vice called her Lolo Gonzalo "Santa Claus" because even though they were poor back then, his lolo never failed to give them gifts because he doesn't want children to be sad on Christmas Day, least of all his grandson, Vice.
Before he died, Vice wanted one thing from his grandfather--to be proud of him. His Lolo Gonzalo made sure to watch his film fest entry before he passed away. On December 25, Lolo Gonzalo watched the last full show of "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin 2." Afterwards, he quietly slipped away.
"Santa Claus" is his greatest fan, Vice said, and the only man who truly love him for who he is. "And I’m so sad right now because Santa died on Christmas day."
Vice managed to crack a joke during his eulogy, but not without expressing how thoroughly sad he is for losing his "boyfriend, best friend." Vice said he doesn't know if the people can still see him or hear him. If they do, then they might be seeing a ghost already because he feels dead inside.
"Para akong masisiraan ng ulo, hindi ko alam kung ano mararamdaman ko. Mahal na mahal ko ang Lolo ko."
Vice did not forget to thank those who condoled with him through the tough times. He knew that his lolo's life went far beyond the years because of the love he received from everyone.
The comedian said he can feel the people's support for him and his family. He assured them that soon, he will be happy again. And he's happy again, he will make sure to pass on that happiness.
Lolo Gonzalo was cremated on December 28.
