Derek Ramsay Tightlipped On Identity Of Mystery DateDerek Ramsay doesn't want to reveal who his mystery date is during TV5's New Year countdown. The actor said their relationship has no label yet, and they are merely dating.
This year has been good to Derek so far. His relationship with his son, Austin, is improving. He was able to settle the differences with estranged wife Mary Christine Jolly. He won as Best Actor for "English Only, Please."
Derek said aside from those three, he also had a new endorsement in the middle of his controversies with Mary, and there's a new sitcom for him by TV5. Also, Derek has made peace with his former bosses on ABS-CBN through the help of Kris Aquino.
The girl he was with during the New Year's Eve party was someone he has just known. He doesn't have the time to go out on dates, so he just took her with him to work.
They are still getting to know each other, but Derek doesn't want to jinx it. He's interested on the girl, though.
If ever they become official, Derek will make sure to reveal it at the right time. Now, he has to prioritize a lot of things first.
Meanwhile, Derek will be a part of a sitcom "Mac & Chiz" with John "Sweet" Lapus, Jojo Alejar and Jun Sabayton. This is his first time to try comedy, so it's really something new for him in terms of acting.
Derek said he wants to test himself as an actor. So even though he doesn't know anything about comedy, he is willing to try it.
He makes sure to bring to life his character, but he's unlike John and Empoy who are both very natural with comedy. He is attentive on the set because he doesn't want to be the weakest link in the sitcom.
Derek finds Empoy very funny. Not funny-looking, he clarified, but he's a natural comedian. He's also very witty, Derek added.
Aside from his movie with Kris for Star Cinema, Derek shared that there will also be a sequel to "English Only, Please." Viva Films also wants to do another movie for him and Jennylyn Mercado, so they might be starring in two films this year.
He's also going to star in an indie film about the Philippine Marines. Under Skylight Films, he will be working with Shaina Magdayao, so that's something new for him again. That's going to be a suspense-thriller, he said.
Derek, however, is not sure if his movie with Jen will be another MMFF entry.
