Benjamin Alves Denies Rumors That He’s GayBenjamin Alves, as expected, has denied rumors alleging him as a gay man. In an interview with press people in the set of his GMA-7 soap ‘Unforgettable’ in Tagaytay, the new actor said he is secured about his gender. He revealed that he does not mind if some people think he is gay. Alves has added that he does not get affected by such intrigues because he knows the truth deep in his heart. For him, if talks less, he may generate less intrigues.
Alves is known as a nephew of actor Piolo Pascual. He went back to the Philippines from Guam (where he grew up) in 2006 to try out modeling. In 2008, he was introduced into local showbiz as Vince Saldaña when he joined the ABS-CBN reality model-search show ‘Close-Up to Fame,’ where he ended up as among the finalists.
After the competition, he signed up with VIVA artists agency. His first acting assignment was as part of the cast of QTV-11 teen series ‘Posh.’ He also appeared in several movies like ‘Apat Dapat, Dapat Apat’ and ‘Ang Cute ng Ina Mo.’ He left the country in 2009 to pursue a college degree. In 2012, he graduated at the University of Guam as a Summa cum laude after completing an English Literature degree.
Since his return, he was re-launched as ‘Benjamin Alves’ by talent agency Mercator Model and Artist Management. He has a current exclusive contract with GMA Network, where he regularly hosts ‘Party Pilipinas’ and joins the cast of several drama series.
In the same media interview, Alves also cleared intrigues that he is not really related to Pascual. His father and Pascual are second cousins. Alves said he does not acknowledge any malicious intrigue that doubts his blood affinity with Pascual.
When asked if he intentionally copies some gestures and mannerisms of his uncle Piolo, Alves said he talks and laughs naturally. He explained that he can’t do anything if people think they talk and laugh alike.
Alves denied being in a romantic relationship at the moment. He disclosed that he and Max Collins are just friends. They have gone out for about three times when they were taping for the GMA-7 primetime show ‘Coffee Prince’ last year.
Alves revealed that after the show, they lost contact with each other. They don’t even text or call each other anymore. In fact, Collins, according to him, did not even greet him during his birthday last March.
