Jolo Revilla Is Back In ICU After SurgeryCavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla is back in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Asian Medical Center in Muntinlupa City after two-and-a-half hours of surgery. The actor-turned-politician sustained a gunshot wound on his right chest on Saturday.
Atty. Joel Bodegon, a spokesman for the Revilla family, said that a chest tube was inserted in Jolo's body. The doctors also removed half-a-liter of blood from his lungs.
According to his family's statement, Jolo accidentally shot his self while he was cleaning his .40 Glock handgun on February 28. Reports, however, indicated that it was a self-sustained wound as Jolo tried to commit suicide.
Some reports also denied that the reason why Jolo tried to kill himself was because of relationship problems with Jodi Sta. Maria. Apparently, the vice governor was depressed because of what happened to his family, especially to his father, Senator Bong Revilla.
DILG Secretary Mar Roxas said that the senator might be transferred to a city jail because after attending the birthday party of detained Senator Juan Ponce Enrile.
Senator Bong has asked the Sandiganbayan to let him visit his son in the hospital. He was said to be devastated by the news.
Because of Jolo's sensitive condition, only family members are allowed to visit him and stay by his side. Reports said Jodi was there immediately after hearing of the incident.
The Revilla family is asking for prayers for Jolo. His mother, Bacoor Representative Lani Mercado, released the statement on her Twitter account, denying that Jolo tried to kill himself.
