Julia Barretto Will No Longer Change Her SurnameThere is no need to change her last name, young actress Julia Barretto said. This is the first time she's making that announcement even though they haven't talked about it as a family.
In 2014, Julia petitioned the court to change her surname from Baldivia, the real surname of her father Dennis Padilla, to Barretto. Then last month, Dennis revealed that Julia snubbed him during a showbiz event late last year.
When Julia reached out to her father last week, many thought that this was done to salvage her career. She was bashed heavily on social media. She denied that there's a truth to the rumors. As a teen, she cannot think about mending her issues with her father just for publicity.
She questioned those who's alledging she's just doing it for her career. She also invited Dennis to her debut on March 10. "Why wouldn't I want to be okay with my dad and have him there kasi it's my special day?"
Julia said she reached out to her father because she wanted them to be okay. It's not for anybody else. In a separate interview, Dennis said he would have been okay with Julia changing her last name if that will make her happy.
But Julia changed her mind already because she can see that her father was unhappy with that decision.
Meanwhile, the young actress refused to answer questions about the relationship of her mother, Marjorie, to aunts Gretchen and Claudine. There are rumors that Marjorie and Claudine are already okay after Marjorie and Gretchen had a silent feud because of the latter's admiration of Liza Soberano, allegedly Julia's rival on ABS-CBN.
She's hopeful that the sister will settle their differences, so their family can be happy once more. She also wants to believe that her debut's purpose is to be bridge between her mother and her aunts.
Julia said she personally invited her aunts Gretchen, Claudine, and her grandparents.
