QC Court Slaps Cesar Montano With Physical Abuse ChargesThe Quezon City Prosecutor's Office formally charged actor Cesar Montano with physical abuse charges for violating RA 9262 or Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act.
The charge was filed on March 8 after Cesar's estranged wife, Sunshine Cruz, was able to produce the necessary evidence to prove that the actor physically abused her at least three times in their marriage. It apparently happened in July 2009, January 2013 and May 2013.
These dates were based on the photographs the actress submitted to prove the charges. It was in August 2013 when Sunshine first charged Cesar with physical abuse. But prior to this, the actress revealed that she was sexually assaulted by her then estranged husband on May 12, 2013.
She also alleged that he was a very domineering and philandering husband.
Assistant State Prosecutor Mary Jean Pamittan, however, dismissed the rape charges against Cesar because of lack of evidence. Sunshine has yet to react on this decision.
But on March 10, Sunshine personally appeared before the QC Prosecutor's Office in relation to the second VAWC case she filed against the actor. This is in relation to the "inappropriate" act Cesar apparently did in front of their minor daughters.
She did not see Cesar at the office, but Sunshine was told he was about to arrive when she left. Sunshine refused to sign the settlement offered by Cesar's camp because this did not resolve the second VAWC case she filed against him.
This was opposed to Cesar's earlier statement, saying Sunshine was only after his properties and that's why she was filing cases left and right. Cesar said Sunshine wants their Antipolo conjugal property although he offered her their lot and house in Las Pinas City.
Sunshine explained that she's not going to agree to a settlement because the VAWC case she filed was not about properties. It is wrong for her to use that case to get a simple lot from Antipolo. Even if Cesar offers his mansion or his farm, Sunshine won't accept it.
She denied that she's only after Cesar's money because ever since they separated in February 2013, she has been trying to raise their daughters by herself. She's doing the best she can as their mother.
"Para po sa kanila ang ginawa ko, hindi po ito para sa ‘kin o para sa sarili kong interes pareho ng paulit-ulit nilang sinasabi."
She asked Cesar's camp to stop belittling her ability to work because she has been providing for their daughters since their separation. Sunshine said Cesar's camp always said they cannot provide for their daughters because the actor has no current project.
