Politics Not In Sharon Cuneta's MindSharon Cuneta just laughed at rumors she will be running for public office in 2016. That rumor has been around for over 30 years, she said.
In the interest of changing her answer, she joked that she might be thinking about it now. But seriously, Sharon said politics is not in her plans. She's been there, done that at 49 years old.
If she wants to impact to lives of people, she will have to do it in another way. But at this point in her life, she's an artist, a singer. Nothing brings her joy, aside from her children, than performing in front of an audience.
She likes this better because this is a give-and-take relationship. In fact, the Megastar feels she's receiving more than giving more to her fans. "It's hard to explain when you're the only one in the middle of a stage and there are tens of thousands of people around you or go to the sinehan."
In an interview with Senator Tito Sotto, Sharon's uncle through her aunt Helen Gamboa, the former comedian said he's trying to convince Sharon to run as mayor of Pasay City. Sharon's father, Pablo Cuneta, was mayor of the city for more than two decades.
Sharon's husband, Kiko Pangilinan, has seemingly left politics too as he is now contented to head agricultural agencies.
