Toni Gonzaga Receives Flak For Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Hosting StintToni Gonzaga's hosting of Bb. Pilipinas 2015 is being heavily criticized on social media networks. Among those who lamented the way Toni hosted the beauty pageant was former Bb. Pilipinas-Universe Nina Ricci Alagao and fashion designer Cary Santiago.
The Bb. Pilipinas 2015 coronation night happened on March 15, Sunday, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Toni's co-host was Kapamilya actor Xian Lim.
According to Nina's Facebook and Twitter post, Toni seems "over confident" with the way she hosted the pageant. She criticized the way Toni prodded the judges during the Q&A portion "as if she was at par with these well-respected people in terms of age and experience."
Nina said Toni should go back 15 years ago when she was still brown-skinned and her nose "untrimmed." No one takes notice of her back then, and she wasn't even allowed to enter a TV network building because they thought she was a maid.
"Maybe that would remind her how it once felt to be humiliated, and be a little more forgiving with people who aren't perfect."
Nina said maybe it's time for Toni to realize that although she may have hosted other events in showbiz, hosting the Bb. Pilipinas may not be for her. She should just stick with "Pinoy Big Brother."
Nina has since deleted her post, but people who copied it have already reposted it on the Internet.
Cary also commented on the way Toni hosted the pageant. He said she was being rude to a candidate who's already very nervous. There were some negative comments to Cary's post, but he defended his opinions against the bashers.
During the Q&A portion, Toni commented on the dangling earrings of Bb. Pilipinas No. 28 Hannah Ruth Sison. She said the earrings remind her of "Chandelier." She then proceeded to sing a portion of Sia's song.
On Bb. Pilipinas No. 14 Princess Joy Camu, who's a first timer in a beauty contest, Toni asked if she's looking forward to the second time. When Princess said no, Toni said MJ Lastimosa joined many times until she won.
On the other hand, there are some who liked the way Toni hosted the show. KC Montero, for example, said it would be quite an experience to host the show with Toni since they are both sarcastic.
Some also said Toni made the otherwise very formal pageant lighter. They want her to host it again next year.
