Wife Liezl Is Irreplaceable For Albert MartinezAward-winning actor Albert Martinez continues to grieve for his wife, Liezl Martinez, who passed away on March 14, Saturday, because of breast and lung cancer.
Albert, however, said his pain is being alleviated by the outpouring of sympathies and love for him and his family. In his Instagram post, Albert thanked those who respected Liezl's wish for her battle with cancer to be private.
It was Liezl's wish to deal with her illness privately, her husband said. This was the reason why nothing was reported about Liezl who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008.
After undergoing treatment for breast cancer, it recurred again in 2011 but this time, the cancer cells spread to her left lung. Before she died this year, she underwent stem cell therapy.
Albert said that seeing Liezl fought bravely the past years made him love her even more. Liezl is more than just a celebrity or a public servant. Albert added she was a "supportive wife, devoted mother, loving daughter, caring cousin and doting aunt."
They will surely miss all the joy Liezl brought to their lives.
Albert said Liezl will never be replaced in his heart. "Although I lost her, she will forever remain a precious jewel, a gem that can never be replaced in my heart."
He asked for prayers for his family as they battle through the grief in the coming days.
Albert earlier posted a vacation photo of him and Liezl, captioning this with "Missing my Liezl so bad...."
Meanwhile, Albert remained mum about the reported misunderstanding between him and Liezl's mother, Amalia Fuentes, who walked out of the cremation ceremony of Liezl on March 16. Amalia said she felt disrespected because she wasn't even allowed to give her final message to her daughter.
She also alleged that she was kept away from her daughter by Albert because he doesn't want her in Liezl's life. She apparently watched helplessly as Liezl battled for her life. Amalia also said that she's the only one who truly loves Liezl because Albert will remarry in the future.
Amalia has remained disapproving of Albert and Liezl ever since her daughter eloped with the actor when she was just 17 years old. They were married in Las Vegas.
Throughout the years, Amalia has never accepted Albert as a son-in-law although the couple has remained to be showbiz's most enviable marriage.
