Rico Blanco Reserved His Comments On Ratings Game Issue Of Kanta PilipinasRico Blanco said that he will leave the ratings game issue of Kanta Pilipinas to the experts, and maintained that it is a “quality show.”
“And to me, that’s the most important thing— yung quality na naibigay ng TV5. May standards na hindi pinabayaan, na hindi na-compromise for the sake of ratings or other things, na me as a musician is not as important as yung core, yung music, yung quality,” Blanco told PEP.PH.
When asked about the possibility of being a judge for The Voice of the Philippines, he said that he is open to the idea as long as it fits his schedule. He also said that it is important for him that he can contribute to the show.
“At yun ang naramdaman ko rito sa Kanta Pilipinas. I believe in the show and it’s a quality show,” he said.
One thing that he is proud of TV5’s Kanta Pilipinas is the show’s integrity. He explained that the show sets out to find the best talents, hone those talents and judge them according to their abilities.
Blanco said that he is very proud of the 12 finalists of Kanta Pilipinas because they all have the potential to make it big in the music industry. He added that he and the finalists have grown very close during the show and that he is ready to mentor them even after the grand finals.
“Kahit matapos ito libre yung services ko bilang kasama nila sa industry. Kung gusto nila ng opinion ko, nandito lang ako bilang napalapit na rin sila sa akin. I want all of them to succeed,” Blanco told PEP.PH.
He said that he is excited for the contestants and for their futures in the music industry. He added that he cannot wait to see what will happen to the contestants he has mentored.
Blanco also said that judging the contestants is “tricky” because he has to judge them based on their current performance, and not on what he saw during the rehearsals or the audition.
Currently, Blanco has two shows—TV5’s Kanta Pilipinas and ABS-CBN’s May Isang Pangarap.
