Angel Locsin And ER Ejercito Won Best Actor And Actress For The Second Time At The Star Awards For MoviesAngel Locsin and Governor ER Ejercito won the Best Actor and Best Actress nods at the Star Awards for Movies of the Philippine Movie Press Club. This was the second time that the two actors won in the awards show, which was held on March 10 at the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
Last year, Locsin won for the movie In The Name Of Love while Ejercito won for Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story.
This year, Locsin won for One More Try while Ejercito won for his role as the former President Emilio Aguinaldo in El Presidente, PEP.PH sad.
Both movies were entries to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival.
For the Best Actress category, Locsin beat superstar Nora Aunor for Thy Womb and Star for all Seasons Vilma Santos for The Healing.
Other Best Actress nominees were Gina Alajar for Mater Dolorosa, Bea Alonzo for The Mistress, Angelica Panganiban for One More Try and Jodi Sta. Maria for Migrante.
For the Best Actor category, Ejercito bested John Lloyd Cruz for The Mistress, Dingdong Dantes for One More Try, Coco Martin for Sta. Nina, Jericho Rosales for Alagwa and Aga Muhlach for Of All The Things.
In the 2012 MMFF, Aunor won the Best Actress award while Dantes bagged the Best Actor award.
In an interview with PEP.PH, Ejercito said that he has more admiration for the judges of Star Awards rather than MMFF. Dantes won over Ejercito in the same category in MMFF.
El Presidente got eight awards during the Star Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. The film also won Best Original Theme Song.
On the other hand, Janice de Belen and Carlo Aquino won the Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor awards for the movies Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles and Mater Dolorosa, respectively.
Tippy Dos Santos and Neil Coleta won New Movie Actress and Actor for the musical film I Do Bidoo Bidoo.
Alagwa, on the other hand, won Movie of the Year in the indie category.
