Reports: Madonna Might Stage Philippine Concert In DecemberIf plans push through, Madonna might stage her much awaited concert in the Philippines in December. This is a major news for thousands or millions of fans of the Queen of Pop, who have long been anticipating to watch her perform in a local venue. If it would proceed, it would also be the first time that the pop superstar would be mounting a concert in local shores.
The possibility of Madonna’s concert in December was first brought about through the Twitter and Facebook posting of Robert Tarroza Stewart, a.k.a. Robby Tarroza. The former model and actor is now an events producer and director in Manila. He has been identified as the real-life partner of fellow ‘That’s Entertainment’ alumna Joed Serrano, who is behind the successful concert production firm That’s Ntertainment.
According to Tarroza, his group has received an email confirmation from Madonna’s camp telling them that their bid to produce the concert in the Philippines has been shortlisted. Tarroza sounded more ecstatic about the idea of bringing the legendary performer to her multitude of Filipino fans.
However, in the same shoutout, Tarroza warned that he thinks the concert tickets would be priced expensively. He is still hoping that Filipino fans would still be able to afford the gate pass. But he expressed confidence that die-hard and bona fide Madonna fans would start saving as early as now to afford the concert tickets. If ever, this could be a pricey gift those people could give their selves this coming Christmas.
In his May 19 social media postings, Tarroza also revealed that he could hardly sleep that night because of the good news. He has already appealed to possible sponsors to start supporting the effort to bring Madonna’s concert to Manila this December.
Many concert producers and promoters have attempted to bring the Pop Queen to the Philippines. In 2011, Marvin Agustin vocally planned to bring Madonna to local concert grounds by 2012. Agustin is also an active concert producer/promoter in the industry today. Apparently, he was not able to do so for unknown reasons.
The 54-year-old singer was a pop sensation in the 1980s, when she churned out best-selling tracks like ‘Material Girl,’ ‘Like a Virgin,’ ‘Like a Prayer,’ ‘Vogue,’ and ‘Papa Don’t Preach.’ Her popularity continued in the 1990s and 2000s. Today, she is still active in recording popular hits that rule music charts around the world.
Industry analysts commend her for successfully reinventing her image and music through the decades. She has effectively retained her standard of autonomy in the ever changing recording industry. She has never failed to make controversies that interestingly make her all the more interesting to followers and critics.
To date, she has sold over 300 million records globally. The Guinness World Records has recognized her as the best-selling female recording artist globally. Even Time magazine has named her as among the 25 Most Powerful Women in the Past Century.
