Jessica Soho Acknowledges The Apology Made By Vice Ganda But Maintained Rape Should Not Be A Subject For His JokesAlthough she has yet to formally accept his apology, GMA TV executive Jessica Soho acknowledged that comedian Vice Ganda has already apologized to her for the "rape joke" incident.
Soho issued the statement after Vice Ganda made a public apology on his show, "It's Showtime."
Vice Ganda said on the show that he tried to call Soho, but the journalist wasn't ready to talk with him just yet. When he asked if he can call her again in the future, Soho apparently said that it wouldn't be wise to do so.
Soho has been the subject of Vice Ganda's joke during his latest "I-Vice Ganda Mo 'Ko" concert at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
He said if Soho will be raped, the rapists would say, "Ipasok and lechon!" To which, Soho would reply, "Nasaan ang apple?"
Soho maintained the issue wasn't about her per se, but about the topic of rape not being used as a subject for one's jokes.
"Rape transcends age, economic class, gender — and even one's weight."
When she acknowledged Vice Ganda's apology, the broadcaster said she hoped it was done "with the purest of intentions and determination to put this issue behind us."
She also said she thanked Vice Ganda for his call, something the comedian failed to mention during his public apology.
Soho then thanked the people who supported her during this issue.
