ABS-CBN Explains Postponement In Airing Of New Kathryn-Daniel SeriesABS-CBN has issued an official statement to explain its management’s decision to postpone the airing of ‘Got To Believe,’ the latest TV series to feature the hottest love team today, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. The new primetime show (under the direction of box-office director Cathy Garcia-Molina) was originally scheduled to start airing this July.
According to the statement released by Bong Osorio, who heads the integrated corporate communications division of the network, the show’s airing would have to be delayed until the production has taped enough episodes for airing.
In the same statement, ABS-CBN revealed that it is also excited to watch the TV series, along with the ardent followers of Kath-niel (Kathryn and Daniel’s love team). The network revealed that even if it wants to give the viewing public the opportunity to watch the show, it has to temporarily hold it to give way for more tapings. The network also reiterated its confidence that the new show would offer an enjoyable viewing experience.
The highlight of the statement is ABS-CBN’s denial of speculations that the show would be shelved because the management was disappointed with the show. The network, through the statement, assured the two young stars’ fans that its management is thrilled and impressed with the first few episodes to be aired.
Last week, rumors circulated that the airing of ‘Got To Believe’ was postponed because the network’s management was allegedly disappointed when it viewed the first few episodes to be aired. It was emphasized that ABS-CBN is getting more meticulous in the new primetime programs to be aired because the ratings game is again favoring the strong lineup of rival GMA-7.
Speculations about the disappointment began when the show’s pilot week did not push through as scheduled. It was supposed to premier last July 1, as its teasers initially indicated. If the original plan pushed through, two new teleseryes could have piloted that day in ABS-CBN, the other being ‘Muling Buksan ang Puso,’ starring Enchong Dee, Enrique Gil, and Julia Montes.
TV enthusiasts were wondering then how ABS-CBN would arrange the lineup of its primetime programming. ‘Muling Buksan ang Puso’ replaced ‘Ina Kapatid Anak’ in its time slot. If ‘Got To Believe’ started airing, it would have to take that slot because it is aimed towards teenaged viewers.
Judy Ann Santos’ teleserye ‘Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala’ would be directly affected because its timeslot would be moved further. By the end of June, many of her supporters threatened ABS-CBN not to move the show to a much later timeslot as doing so may affect ratings and viewership. Reportedly, this programming strategy was what made Robin Padilla angry over management decision when ratings of his last soap ‘Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw’ (with Kris Aquino and Anne Curtis) drastically dipped when its slot was moved to a much later time.
According to analysts, if possible conflicts with programming schedule would be the basis, ‘Got To Believe’ would be aired in September, when Coco Martin’s ‘Juan dela Cruz’ ends. However, there is another conflict now because airing of ‘Juan dela Cruz’ would be extended until October. Will Kathryn and Daniel’s fans be willing to wait until then?
