Arnold Clavio Apologizes For "Rude" Interview With Janet Napoles' LawyerNetizens and the general public criticized the way GMA-7 broadcaster Arnold Clavio rudely interviewed Janet Napoles' lawyer, Atty. Alfredo Villamor.
Arnold said that in his interest to let the public know the truth about Janet's attendance of the Senate hearing today, he had to resort to that way of interviewing the lawyer.
In his phone patch with the lawyer, Arnold told him that he ruined his day and that he hopes they never called him.
"Sa sidhi kong malaman ninyo ang balita, inaamin ko po na lumampas ako sa aking limitasyon, at humihingi ako ng unawa kung may nasabi man ako na wala sa lugar."
Napoles is implicated in the multi-billion pork barrel scam that also dragged the names of 37 individuals, including Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla.
Netizens called Arnold "unprofessional" and "unethical" for the way he handled the interview. As a journalist, netizens said Arnold should have been respectful of the lawyer.
Arnold intended to procure information from Atty. Alfredo about Janet's attendance of the Senate hearing today. However, the lawyer repeatedly told him he was not the one who is handling that particular case of the so-called "pork barrel queen."
This is not the first time Arnold created controversy for himself. In March 2012, the broadcaster heavily criticized members of the football team Azkals and their nationalities because of the sexual harassment case filed by Philippine Olympics Committee official Cristine Ramos-Jalasco.
Arnold apologized for the harsh words, but maintained the case should be filed against the Azkals members.
