Twitter User Receives Flak For Insensitive PostsA Twitter user named Regghie M. Orpiada was criticized by netizens because of his postings, saying the "poor people" deserve to die during the onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda, adding that the Iglesia Ni Cristo was right not to let Catholics inside the Church.
One of his first posts said that he hopes foreigners didn't die during the disaster since they are the only source of income for the country. Also, he said it is unfair for the foreigners if they will be dragged into the misfortunes of the Filipinos.
His other posts commended the Iglesia Ni Cristo, who was earlier reported as having closed its doors to the victims of the typhoon because they were not members of the Church, for not allowing destitute Catholics to take shelter there. He added that God loves members of Iglesia Ni Cristo more because they were not forsaken.
"Sana i-lock ng mabuti and pintuan ng kapilya ng #IglesiaNiCristo sa may Tacloban dahil baka pagnakawan sila ng mga asal hayop na Katoliko."
Also, the Twitter user said Yolanda should come back to the Philippines to wreak havoc on Metro Manila, so that the squatter living near the river will also be wiped out. He added that poor Filipinos also have their uses since they became ground fertilizer when they died because of the typhoon.
Netizens posted screencaps of these tweets on Facebook and Instagram, with most of them saying they cannot believe such a person exists. Another user posted a screencap of the Twitter user checking in Baclaran Church, which showed he is not a member of Iglesia Ni Cristo.
