Angelica Panganiban Wins Best Actress In Cinema OneAngelica Panganiban walked away from this year’s Cinema One Originals Film Festival with the best actress award on Saturday.
Panganiban won the award for her role in the Adolf Alix Jr. film “Alamat ni China Doll” in the ceremony held at the ABS-CBN Dolphy Theater.
The film also took home major prizes including Best Picture, Best Sound, Best Music, Best Editing and Best Cinematography.
Panganiban played the role of Helen, the lead character of the movie, whose simple life with her grandmother in a southern Philippine island life is changed when an article titled “China Doll” is published.
Meanwhile, other winners in the Plus Category (films which had a budget of P2 million) include Joel Torre as best actor ("Kabisera"), Borgy Torre as best director ("Kabisera"), Peque Gallaga as best supporting actor ("Woman of the Ruins"), Bing Pimentel as best supporting actress ("Kabisera"), “Blue Bustamante” for production design, “Sitio” for best screenplay and Jury Award.
Winners in the Current Category (films with a budget of only P1 million) includes Rayver Cruz, Matteo Guidicelli and Joseph Marco as best actors; Vivian Velez as best actress ("Bendor"); Arnel Mardoquio as best director ("Riddles of my Homecoming”); “Bukas na lang Sapagkat Gabi Na” for best picture and best screenplay; David Chua as best supporting actor ("Saturday Night Chills"); Anna Luna as best supporting actress ("Bendor"); “Riddles of my Homecoming” for Jury Award, best production design, best cinematography, and best music; “Saturday Night Chills” for best editing; and “Islands” for best sound.
