Miss Philippines Bea Rose Santiago Is Miss International 2013Miss Philippines Bea Rose Santiago, the 23-year-old Masbate native wins the title of Miss International 2013 on Tuesday night, December 17, beating 66 other international delegates from around the world.
The 53rd edition of the Miss International pageant was held at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Other members of the Top 5 were Miss Netherlands Nathalie den Dekker (first runner-up), Miss New Zealand Lorena Hermida (second runner-up), Miss Hungary Brigitta Ötvős and Miss Colombia Lorena Hermida.
The Best in National Costume goes to Miss Aruba Erialda Croes, New Zealand Casey Radley wins Miss Friendship Award, Miss Lithuania Elma Segzdaviciute is awarded to Miss Photogenic, and Miss Internet is Miss Macau Adela Ka-Wai Sou.
Bea Rose is the fifth Filipina to snag the Miss International title and the 3rd Filipina to win the major crown this year, following wins by Megan Young at Miss World and Mutya Datul at Miss Supranational.
During the question and answer portion, the top five finalists were asked what they would do if they win the Miss International pageant, Bea answers: “The whole world saw how my country suffered. One by one, other countries helped. You have opened my heart and eyes on what we can do to help each other. I will work to sustain the spirit of sympathy and spirit of hope. As long as we work together, there is hope.”
The new Miss International titleholder will serve as the "Ambassadors of Peace and Beauty" as she will be symbol for beauty, friendship and intelligence.
