JM De Guzman Stars In "Ipaglaban Mo" EpisodeJM de Guzman will officially make his TV comeback in an episode of "Ipaglaban Mo" on Saturday (August 9), which will air on ABS-CBN.
JM will play the role of Andoy, a fish porter who led 30 of his co-workers in a labor rights protest. He filed a complaint against their employer because they don't give them special pays and incentives after working for three years.
Because of this, their employer fired Andoy and his group from their jobs. They still continued their legal battle, though. They again filed a complaint against the company for illegal dismissal and the violation of Article 118 of the Philippine Labor Code.
The code states that employers cannot discharge employees who filed complaints against them.
The Labor Arbiters awarded the case to the employer, but the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) ordered the management to give Andoy and his co-workers their jobs back. They were also ordered to pay back their wages and grant them special pays and incentives.
But the employer could not accept the decision of the NLRC. They filed a petition before the Supreme Court.
The "Ipaglaban Mo" episode, titled "Ibigay Ang Aming Karapatan," will talk about the decision of the Supreme Court and Andoy's journey to fight for their rights.
Aside from JM, the episode will also star Yam Concepcion, Leo Rialp, Bryan Santos, Ketchup Eusebio and Janus del Prado. It will be directed by Garry Fernando.
"Ipaglaban Mo," hosted by Atty. Jose Sison and Jopet Sison, airs every Saturday after "It's Showtime" on ABS-CBN.
