VIDEO: "Be Careful With My Heart" Comes To An EndABS-CBN's hit morning series "Be Careful With My Heart" is coming to an end after more than two years on air.
The "kilig serye," as it was called, remained on top of the TV ratings, and is consistently the number one daytime show in the Philippines, Kantar Media said in its data.
The show's popularity gave birth to a lot of merchandise, including a gold-selling official soundtrack album and a wedding magazine special. It was supposed to have a movie version but conflicting schedules did not permit it.
Moreover, the show also showcased the singing prowess of its casts in a concert. The series has been nominated at the New York Festivals.
The series was originally slated for a year-long run, but it has since extended to two years because of the popularity of the plot and the characters. The series centered around Maya (Jodi Sta. Maria), a simple barrio lass who wants to be a flight attendant, and her love story with Richard Lim (Richard Yap), a rich widowed businessman with three children.
The series had a number of milestones, including Maya becoming a flight stewardess, her marriage to her former employer, her relationship with his children, the birth of their twins, and the issues faced by their teenage children.
These milestones became trending topic on Twitter, including their first date, the first exchange of "I love yous," the first kiss, and the wedding proposal.
The cast also had a world tour for their Filipinos fans all over the globe. Aside from Jodi and Richard, "Be Careful With My Heart" also stars Mutya Orquia, Janella Salvador, Jerome Ponce, Aiza Seguerra, and Sylvia Sanchez.
It is under the direction of Jeffrey Jeturian and Mervyn Brondial.
