VIDEO: "The Janitor" Official TrailerThe indie film "The Janitor" starring Dennis Trillo and Derek Ramsay will come to theaters nationwide as it has been graded "A" by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).
The story of "The Janitor" was set on July 21, 2011, during the bloodiest bank heist in the country's history when the Mabuhay Savings Bank in San Pedro, Laguna left 10 employees dead. They were executed by the bank robbers who escaped with about P10 million in cash.
Many believed the robbery was conducted by professionals because it was done with military precision. The perpetrators wore Moriones masks to conceal their identities. What the robbers did is to hold up the employees inside the bank while they disable the security system and wait for the vault's time lock to deactivate before the usual opening hours.
When they got the cash, however, a bloodbath ensued.
Former policeman Crisanto Espina was pressured by the people and the media to solve the crime since he was the one handling it. He hunted down the perpetrators with the hope that he can clear his name before his family. However, he soon finds out the truth about his mission.
"The Janitor" won five awards during the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival under the Director's Showcase category. It won Best Director for Michael Tuviera, Best Screenplay for Aloy Adlawan and Best Supporting Actor for Nicco Manalo.
Aside from Dennis, Derek and Nicco, the film also stars Raymond Bagatsing, Alex Medina, Jerald Napoles, Sunshine Garcia, Ricky Davao, Irma Adlawan, LJ Reyes and Richard Gomez.
