‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Concludes Its Fourth Season This Weekend

One of the country’s most popular talent search shows is concluding its fourth season this weekend. ABS-CBN’s ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Season 4 is set to air its season finale performance night on June 1 (Saturday) and its announcement night on June 2 (Sunday). The show promises another noteworthy showdown of unique Filipino talents in the grandest and biggest talent-reality show.

The grand finals night and the announcement night will both be staged at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Parañaque City. The winner would stand to win P2 million in total cash prize plus the prestige of being the fourth winner, following the steps of preceding winners Jovit Baldivino, Marcelito Pomoy, and Maasinhon Trio.

This year, more than 29,000 hopefuls auditioned nationwide, worldwide, and online. After several weeks of meticulous screening, the six remaining finalists were selected to face each other for the finale showdown. Those are: D’Intensity Breakers, Frankendal Fabroa, Lateral Drift Productions, MP3 Band, Roel Manlangit, and Zilent Overload.

Dance groups

D’Intensity Breakers from Batangas has prepared to take everyone’s breath, literally. The group is most known for performing death-defying stunts to take its way to the finals. The boys from Lipa City revealed that some of their members were injured due to their risky tasks. Most of the members are ordinary guys who earn a living by being ballot vendors, garbage collectors, jeepney barkers, and fishball vendors, among other jobs.

Pasig City’s Zilent Overload has 39 members, making it the biggest group in this competition this year. All of them were victims to recent urban calamities ‘Ondoy’ in 2009 and ‘Habagat’ in 2012. The group did several odd jobs and tasks to fund their costs for props and costumes.

Song performers

The youngest grand finalist this year is 13-year old Roel Manlangit from Bukidnon. The child prodigy created a buzz across the online social media in his initial performances in the show. His performance video was even uploaded on YouTube and has so far been viewed more than 2 million times.

MP3 Band from Davao consists of aspiring music artists LJ, Aries, and Makoy. The trio hopes their appearance in the show would serve as their means to penetrate the local music scene. The group aims to generate a new music genre through combining acoustic guitars, conventional Pinoy music, rap, and beatboxing. MP3 Band is confident that it has already created a solid fan base.

Odd performers

Ring-man Frankendal Fabroa hails from Tondo, Manila. The passionate dancer and acrobat has already gone to Japan to work as an entertainer. He boasts of his amazing and unique dance act, using metal rings to enhance his performance. He used his exposure in the show to reconnect with his estranged wife. He also draws inspiration from his deceased young daughter.

Lastly, the Lateral Drift Productions comprise of Manila’s driving heartthrobs. The duo consists of Gio and Ralph, good-looking dudes who share the same passion for showcasing their driving abilities. They have created history by being the first ever car drifting act in the program’s entire history.

Again, these six grand finalists’ fate would depend on the viewers. Combined text and online votes would be tabulated to determine the big winner. The big most talented act this season would be revealed on June 2. The show is hosted by Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford. The Big 3 Judges are Kris Aquino, former ABS-CBN president Freddie M. Garcia, and Ai Ai delas Alas.
