‘on The Job’ May Get Hollywood Remake Starring Mark Wahlberg Or Tom Cruise“On The Job”, the Erik Matti film which was recently screened at the Cannes film festival, may get a Hollywood remake that stars either Mark Wahlberg or Tom Cruise.
The possibility of a remake to feature the Hollywood a-listers was revealed by Gerald Anderson, one of the lead actors of the film, in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
During the opening of the 18th French Film Festival in Makati City, Anderson said “Sabi nila direk, 'yung kampo nila Mark Wahlberg tumawag para i-remake, atsaka nila Tom Cruise.”
“Malay natin. Kami nga nakarating kami sa Cannes. Dreams do come true. Mag-focus lang kayo sa gusto niyo mangyari sa buhay niyo, at dahil kay Papa God, mangyayari 'yun,” Anderson added.
The film has recently made headlines after bagging what is touted as the biggest deal yet for doreign distribution of a Filipino film.
Matti has revealed that deals struck between their camp, Wild Side for the release of the film in France, and Well Go USA for the release of the film in the United States are worth $350,000 or at least P12 million.
Meanwhile, Anderson recalled telling Piolo Pascual, another lead actor in the much-praised film, “Tinitingnan ko si Piolo, 'Bro, kaunti nalang iiyak na ako, eh.' Kasi talagang ang-init ng pagtanggap nila. Very proud day para sa mga Pinoy.”
