Chris Brown Charged For Alleged Hit-And-RunChris Brown has been charged over a suspected hit-and-run, authorities revealed on Tuesday.
According to reports from the US, however, Brown claims the other driver involved in the incident just wants a “payday” from the singer.
Reports say that Brown appears to have rear-ended a Mercedes Benz with his Range Rover near Toluca Lake in Los Angeles, California last month.
On Twitter, Brown said: “I have a valid driver’s license and I gave the woman the right info. She saw cameras and wanted to make a scene. She contacted the cops thinking of a payday from Chris Brown when I followed the proper procedures.”
The incident leading to the charges happened last May 21 and Brown has been charged with one count of hit-and-run and one count of driving without a valid driver’s license.
According to TMZ, Brown may have given false information contradicting claims made that the singer stopped and swapped information after the event.
Meanwhile, Brown continued to vent on Twitter on Tuesday.
“It’s not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous,” he said in a Tweet.
“I work my ass off to provide for my entire family. I’ve made mistakes in the past and have worked hard to be a better person…I gotta clear my name,” he added.
Brown is still currently under probation after an assault on his on-again off-again girlfriend and fellow singer Rihanna.
