Manila Gets Highlight In Teaser For Imminent Warner Bros.' ‘pacific Rim’ FilmMetro Manila has gotten a highlight in a recently released teaser for the upcoming Hollywood film “Pacific Rim”.
The feature was made by Legendary Pictures, the studio which made the science fiction film, and Warner Bros., the distributor of the film, in the form of a screen shot of a fresh trailer which is expected to be released soon.
In the screen shot, Manila is shown to be featured in a news report which says that the metropolis has been attacked by a Kaiju, giant monsters which are the antagonists of the film, which left a huge pile of excrement that contaminates the city.
According to reports, the new trailer for “Pacific Rim” which will feature the report on Manila is expected to debut very soon.
The film itself, an epic action and adventure film directed by Guillermo del Toro, is set to premier in the Philippines on July 11. It will be released in North American on July 12.
In the film, based on a screenplay by Travis Beacham and del Toro, hordes of Kaiju (strange monster) have surfaced from a fissure in the Pacific Ocean waging a global war against humans.
For mankind’s defense, humans have developed gigantic robots called Jaegers piloted by two individuals who think as one in a mind-meld akin to that displayed by Vulcans in the Star Trek franchise.
However, the Jaegers are no match to the Kaijus and humankind hinges its hopes on the two hesitant heroes – a has-been former Jaeger pilot and a rookie trainee played by Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi respectively.
These two characters will pilot a renowned albeit out of date Jaeger in a quest to defeat the Kaiju hordes.
Del Toro - who has directed films such as Blade II, Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy II – has said in the past that there’s a possibility for a sequel to “Pacific Rim”.
Beacham, who has written Clash of the Titans, will be writing the sequel of “Pacific Rim”.
