JK Rowling To Write Fresh Warner Bros MovieFans of JK Rowling are rejoicing after movie studio Warner Bros. revealed on Thursday that the famed writer will be writing the screenplay for a new movie.
According to Warner Bros., Rowling will be writing for a movie that is based on “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. The movie will reportedly center on Newt Scamander, the book’s fictitious author.
This is a book Rowling wrote and it is about the beasts in the Harry Potter universe. According to Rowling, Warner Bros. wanted to do a film on “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and she soon realized she cannot let another writer write the screenplay for her creation.
“Having lived for so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it. I already knew a lot about Newt,” Rowling said.
“As I considered Warner’s proposal, an idea took shape that I couldn’t dislodge. That is how I ended up pitching my own idea for a film to Warner Bros.,” she added.
The project is expected to be the pilot film in another movie franchise, the first project Rowling has for the big screen after the massively successful Harry Potter movies.
According to Rowling, the movie “is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world.”
The movie’s plot is set in New York City 70 years from when Harry Potter’s plot began.
