Julianne Moore Is Newest ‘The Hunger Games’ ActressVeteran Hollywood actress Julianne Moore will star in the last two installments of “The Hunger Games” franchise, Lionsgate, the distributor of the films, revealed on Friday.
Moore, an Oscar-nominated actress, joins Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Donald Sutherland among others in the two-part ending of the popular young adult fantasy franchise titled “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay”.
The actress is said to portray the role of President Alma Coin in “Mockingjay”, a character who is the chief of the rebel alliance which is fighting against the dictatorship of President Snow, the character portrayed by Sutherland.
Based on the novels of the same title by Suzanne Collins, the movie franchise has grossed almost $700 million worldwide after the release of the first film alone, data from Box Office Mojo reveals.
The sequel to the first film, “The Hunger Games : Catching Fire”, is set to be released this November 22.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2” are set to be released in November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015 respectively.
