"Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?" Breached The P100-Million Mark In Two WeeksThe success of "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?" has once again proven the star power of one of ABS-CBN's hottest loveteam, Kim Chiu and Xian Lim. Most commonly known as KimXi, their first movie together has reached and outlasted the P100-million mark in two weeks.
According to Mico del Rosario, Star Cinema's advertising and promotions manager, the movie just grossed above P100 million. This was posted on his account on social networking site Twitter.
The movie was the first big screen team up of Chiu and Lim who have yet to prove their loveteam's star power before "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?" Although they have been paired on "My Binondo Girl" and "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," this movie adaptation of Ramon Bautista's self-help book is the first time the two starred in a film together.
"Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?" raked in a total of P10.5 million on its opening day and grossed at least P51.7 million on its first five days in cinemas. Third party tabulator Box Office Mojo called it a certified box office success.
The self-help comedy movie focused on the lives of brainy Sandy Veloso (Chiu), an "ugly duckling" who was working for the rich and dashing Alex Prieto (Lim). It was based on the book written by Bautista, a self-declared Internet sensation. The book has the same title as the movie.
Directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal, "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?" is still showing in theaters nationwide. It has the biggest potential to be in the box office list this year despite the weekly release of movies by Star Cinema in celebration of its 20th anniversary.
Star Cinema will also be the one to distribute Batangas Governor and Star for all Seasons Vilma Santos' first indie film entitled "Ekstra." It will open on August 14. It will also release "OTJ (On The Job), starring Piolo Pascual and Gerald Anderson, on August 28.
The internationally-acclaimed "OTJ" will be released on the same day as Thai superstar Mario Maurer's "Pee Mak," the highest grossing Thai film of all time.
