"Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?" Breached P100-Million Mark In Three Weeks

Star Cinema's "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?" earned P102.36 million in just three weeks. The Kim Chiu and Xian Lim starrer is the third Filipino movie to have surpassed the P100-million mark this year.

This is the first on-screen tandem of Chiu and Lim, who have been together in two teleseryes--"My Binondo Girl" and "Ina, Kapatid, Anak."

When it comes to weekly movie gross, it stands behind "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters," "The Internship" and "Kick-Ass 2." "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?" is based on the book of the same title written by University of the Philippines professor Ramon Bautista.

It follows Sandy (Chiu), an ugly ducking who works for the handsome and rich Alex (Lim). Sandy was laid off from work after breaking up with her boyfriend. Realizing his mistake, Alex hired her back and offered a makeover, so she won't feel unwanted anymore.

The feel-good movie has received several praises from moviegoers mainly because of its heartwarming and witty approach to love.

The film is directed by Joyce Bernal and starred Tonton Gutierrez, Kean Cipriano and Bautista himself. It is part of Star Cinema's 20th anniversary movie offerings.

Here are the top 10 movies in the Philippines for the period of August 14 to 18: "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters," "The Internship," "Kick-Ass 2," "Bakit hindi ka crush ng crush mo?," "The Smurfs 2," "Dragon Ball Z," "Man of Steel" and "White House Down."
The highest-grossing Hollywood films in the Philippines for 2013 are: "Iron Man 3" (P631.48 million), "Man of Steel" (P388.56 million), "Fast & Furious 6" (P258.6 million), "Despicable Me 2" (P231.28 million), "World War Z" (P208.17 million), "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" (P187 million), "The Wolverine" (P168.5 million), "Pacific Rim" (P163.25 million), "Jack the Giant Slayer" (P126.61 million) and "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" (P120 million).

On the other hand, the highest-grossing Pinoy films for this year are: "It Takes A Man and a Woman" (P375 million), "Four Sisters and a Wedding" (P145 million), "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?" (P102.36 million), "Bromance: My Brother’s Romance" (P72.67 million), "A Moment in Time" (P64.54 million), "Must Be…Love" (P60.74 million), "Tuhog" (P24.68 million), "My Lady Boss" (P19.4 million) and "The Bride and the Lover" (P10.39 million).
