"The Trial" Grosses P53.19 Million In 2 WeeksThe John Lloyd Cruz-starrer "The Trial" grossed P53.19 at the box office as it stayed there for two weeks. This is the first movie of Lloydie that did not surpass the P100-million mark that easily.
The Star Cinema court drama debuted at number two, but settled for number three on its second week of screening. This was because the Nicholas Sparks' book-turned-movie "The Best of Me" earned P21.9 million during the weekend while "Dracula Untold" captured the second spot.
"Annabelle," a prequel to "The Conjuring," grossed P144 million, making it the highest-grossing horror movie in the Philippines for all time.
Here are the top 10 movies in the country from October 22 to 26: "The Best of Me" (P21.9 million), "Dracula Untold" (P20.8 million), "The Trial" (P15.2 million), "Fury" (P10.4 million), "The Judge" (P6.4 million), "The Book of Life" (P3.5 million), "Annabelle" (P2.8 million), "Gone Girl" (2.8 million), "The Pirates" (P1.2 million), and "Left Behind" (P388,981).
On the other hand, Star Cinema's "Starting Over Again" starring Toni Gonzaga and Piolo Pascual grossed more than P400 million at the box office. It is one of the first movies to breach the P400-million mark despite being a non-MMFF flick.
Currently, it is the number one Pinoy movie.
Based on the highest grossing Pinoy films for 2014, Star Cinema topped seven on the list while Viva Films produced three films in the list, the one co-produced with Star Cinema.
