"Iron Man 3" Sets Record For First Day Of Viewing"Iron Man 3" sets a record for the biggest first-day gross in Philippine industry. It debuted with a whopping P62.6 million.
This broke the record set by "Spider-Man 3," the third installment in Tobey Maguire's movie, in 2007. That film grossed P58 million on its first day.
The record was announced by Victor Cabrera, managing director of Walt Disney Studios, which distributed the movie in the Philippines.
“`Iron Man 3′ flew off the box office chart, soaring past the stratosphere to break the country’s all-industry, all-time Opening Day records. P62-M in one day is previously unheard of. What a boost to the industry!”
It also beats Marvel's "The Avengers," which recorded P56 million last year. In fact, the opening day of "Iron Man 3" doubled the amount garnered by "Iron Man 2."
"Iron Man 3" stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Sparks and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts. Also with them are Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley.
It is now playing in Philippine cinemas in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and regular theaters.
