Analysts Predict Ariella Arida's Win In Miss Universe 2013Analysts have been predicting that Miss Philippines 2013 Ariella Arida will be the one to take home the coveted crown for the Miss Universe 2013 pageant that will be held in Moscow, Russia on November 10 (Manila time).
Although the preliminary competition will be done on Tuesday, bloggers (the same ones who predicted Megan Young's Miss World 2013 win) have been predicting Ariella's victory come November 10. They said there's a huge possibility that the Philippines' will follow India's lead in 1994 and 2000 when they won the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants in the same year.
Ever since she arrived in Moscow, Ariella's name has been whispered among beauty pageant analysts, along with Miss USA Erin Brady, Australia's Olivia Wells, Russia's Elmira Abdrazakova, Chile's Maria Jesus Matthei, France's Hinarano de Longeaux and UK's Amy Willerton.
On October 30, a Brazil-based blog crowned her the winner of the "ice princess" glam shoot that was created by American-Albanian photographer Fadil Berisha. In fact, Ariella's photo was one of those that was featured on the Miss Universe website's homepage.
Though it is not a guarantee that she will win the crown, many have high hopes for Ariella since she is making noise in Russia. The last time the Philippines took home the Miss Universe crown was in 1973 through Margie Moran.
This year, the country took home the Miss World and Miss Supranational crowns through Megan and Mutya Datul, respectively.
Ariella was in the news lately because she was the subject of DJ Mo Twister's attacks. The beauty queen earlier defended her apparent lack of English communication skills by saying a lot of Latinas also cannot speak English that well and yet, they eventually place in the competition. She later on apologized for the remarks.
Her rumored boyfriend, Ervic Vijandre, has been criticizing Mo for not supporting Ariella.
The Philippines has consistently placed in the top five of the Miss Universe pageant in the last three years--Venus Raj in 2010, Shamcey Supsup in 2011 and Janine Tugonon in 2012.
Janine, who will host the pageant this year, placed first runner-up.
