On Saturday, the reality singing contest garnered a rating of 30.2% or 18 points higher than its rival, GMA-7's "Celebrity Bluff," which only got 12.1%. "The Voice Of The Philippines" also beat its Sunday (June 16) rival, "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho," by posting a rating of 27.7%.
"Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" got 22%, the data showed.
"The Voice Of The Philippines," which became popular because of its Blind Auditions segment, was also the trending topic on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter. Netizens already used as hashtag the names of the contestants they are rooting for as early as today.
Also, netizens commented on the way the judges-mentors (Lea Salonga, Apl de Ap, Bamboo and Sarah Geronimo) evaluated the voices of the contestants. They also categorized themselves if they are Team Lea, Team Sarah, Team Bamboo or Team Apl.
So far, seven artists have already been accepted in the competition. Apl got Cora Dela Cruz and Thor Dulay; Team Lea got Darryl Shy, Chien Berbana and Taw Muhammad; Team Sarah got Junji Arias; and Team Bamboo got Deb Victa.
Each team needs 12 artists. So far, Geronimo has been quite picky in her selections. Dulay, a former backup singer for Vice Ganda, got the first "four chairs."
Blind Auditions will continue next week on June 22 (Saturday) and June 23 (Sunday).
