Little-Known Pinay Child Actress Wins Big At International Film Festival In New YorkA little-known Filipina child actress just recently won the Best Actress award at an international film festival held in New York.
Barbara Miguel won the prestigious award at the recently-held Harlem International Film Festival for her portrayal in the film “Nuwebe”.
“Nuwebe,” a film by Joseph Israel Laban, was also an entry to this year’s New Breed category of the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. The film also competed in the Montreal film festival.
The film tackles the issue of our society’s youngest mothers.
This is not the first time Miguel has received an award for “Nuwebe” as she was also recently named Best Child Actress in the 61st Film Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS).
Miguel is currently promoting her newest film, “Bamboo Flowers”, a film by Maryo J. de los Reyes which is competing in the Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival All-Masters Edition.
The young actress is also set to star in Joel Lamangan’s “Burgos” which is expected to be released next month.
According to Lamangan, Miguel stood out among all of the child stars who auditioned for “Nuwebe” because of her brilliance, the website InterAksyon reports.
