Barbie Forteza is excited about the success of her recent project, Pulang Araw, as it wraps up its taping. The period drama, which premiered on Netflix in July, has earned a place among the top 10 most-viewed shows in the Philippines. Barbie, who plays the character Adelina, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the show. “I’m really proud of what we did, and it’s so fulfilling to know that Netflix is happy with the performance of Pulang Araw,” she said.
The show, which also aired on GMA-7, received positive feedback from viewers. As a result, the network extended the series by 10 more episodes, making a total of 110 episodes. Pulang Araw is set to conclude on December 24, just in time for Christmas. Barbie expressed excitement about future collaborations between GMA and Netflix, hoping to be part of more projects in the future.
Reflecting on her journey, Barbie recalled her previous role in another period drama, Maria Clara at Ibarra, which was also widely popular. She shared how grateful she is for the trust GMA has shown her in giving her significant roles in both shows. “It’s heartwarming to know that GMA has that much confidence in me. I’m just thankful for everything,” she said.
Despite the success of her past roles, Barbie remains open to working on different types of projects. “I’m always excited to work, no matter what the project is. It’s the character and how I can bring it to life that excites me,” she said. Barbie also took a moment to praise the team behind Pulang Araw. “The crew and staff worked so hard to bring the show to life, and they deserve to celebrate its success,” she added.
The emotional moments in the show, particularly the death of her character’s father, Julio, also left her a lasting impression. She mentioned how challenging it was to portray the pain of losing a loved one. Given the depth of Adelina’s bond with Julio. “It’s something I didn’t know how Adelina would handle,” Barbie said, reflecting on the emotional scenes.
With the end of Pulang Araw in sight, Barbie looks forward to more opportunities to showcase her talent and continue working on projects that challenge her as an actress.
